Team 2010-11: Olympiacos (Greece-ESAKE) Career: G.C.Karditsas (Greece-D3, 1998-2000), AEK Athens (Greece-ESAKE, 2000-06), Barcelona FC (Spain-ACB 2006), Olympiacos (Greece-ESAKE, 2006-11)
After a slight dip in form a couple of seasons ago, Ioannis Bourousis has been operating somewhere near back to his best with Olympiacos recently. The leading rebounder for Greece at the last few tournaments, he provides a real presence on the glass and is also a capable shot blocker. Defensively he can match up with the opposition's danger men. Offensively he can step outside and hit triples consistently if left open. Always fired up and always vocal, he is a passionate player who goes through the game wearing his heart on his sleeve. He has won plenty of honours and has come a long way since he was a benchwarmer at EuroBasket 2005 when Greece captured gold. Now he is more of a central figure to the team although his mentality may be tested in the wake of a controversial end to his career in Greece having decided to move to Milan for the start of the 2011-12 season. |
