Poland Too Hot For Portugal To Handle

Poland outgunned Portugal to pick up their first win in EuroBasket qualifying with an 86-64 victory in Bydgoszcz.

Poland shot 26 of 50 (52%) from the field, with idential numbers of 13 of 25 from both two- and three-point range to fire their way past Portugal.

Marcin Gortat scored 19, making six of eight from the field and seven of eight from the line, to lead five Poland players scoring in double figures, while also grabbing 11 rebounds.

Maciej Lampe scored 14 with nine rebounds, while Thomas Kelati had 13 points, and Dardan Berisha and Lukasz Koszarek each collected 12.

Poland's lead got out of hand for Portugal early on, with back-to-back baskets from Lampe making it 30-15 less than halfway through the third quarter.

Portugal did their best to hang around, trailing 44-33 at half-time, but back-to-back three-pointers from Kelati and Michal Chylinski set the tone for the second half.

Jaime Silva led Portugal with 12 points, the only player to get into double figures.
