France Head Coach Vincent Collet:
"We are very happy to win this game because we have guaranteed a place in the Pre-Olympic tournament. This was our first goal. Very often in our past games against Greece, we had close games but they would beat us in the end. Today it was our turn. We fought for 40 minutes, we struggled to come back but we managed to do it. We were very courageous and mentally very strong. Congratulations to my players."
France Forward Florent Pietrus:
"That was a tough game and we are very happy to have won it. We were slow in the beginning because the Greek team made us play slow. But at the end, we made the difference. They also deserved to win but we know that in basketball there is only one winner. I believe the key was that we were united for 40 minutes."
Greece Head Coach Ilias Zouros:
"I'm proud of my team. We are here with many problems. My players gave 100 per cent. They did their best. We made some very bad mistakes on defense. When you don't score, you have to stop them and we didn't do that. This is down to experience and this is something that we need. We now have to think about our next game, which is crucial for us."
Greece Forward Konstantinos Kaimakoglou:
"We played well for 40 minutes. Unfortunately, we didn't make the final four. Basketball is details. In the fourth quarter we lost our concentration and we let Nicolas Batum take open shots which he made. Also Tony Parker at the end hit some big shots for them. We nevertheless still had our chances. Now we must put this defeat behind us. Tomorrow we have a crucial game." |
