Finland are celebrating after turning in a dominant performance to win the Nordic Championship with a four-game sweep in Sundsvall, Sweden, marking themselves out as a team to watch in the EuroBasket Additional Qualifying Round.

Finland won their games by an average of 31.3 points as they recorded a series of lop-sided victories, beating Denmark 93-67, Iceland 108-76, Norway 96-51 and then, in the final, Sweden 85-63.

Henrik Dettman's team used stifling defense and 45.4% shooting from three-point range to overpower their opponents.

"In most sports, when a team wins a Nordic Championship, it marks them out as one of the best teams in the world," Dettman said.

"We know we're still a long way from being that, but winning a Nordic Trophy for the first time in 28 years is still an accomplishment worth celebrating."

Gerald Lee turned in a series of impressive performances for the Finns.

He led the victory over Denmark with 19 points, had 16 against Norway and then an outstanding 27 in the final victory over Sweden.

His only quiet game came against Iceland, where Shaun Huff took over with 19 points.

Finland will now play Germany twice in Hagen on August 4th and 5th before facing Portugal and Hungary in the AQR.
