Bosnia and Herzegovina Set Up Big Day

EUROBASKET 2011

Turning Point: Bosnia and Herzegovina were excellent at the start of the fourth quarter and, once they scored 12 of the first 14 points in the period to extend their lead to 15, Croatia looked a beaten team.

Game Heroes: Mirza Teletovic had 26 points and just missed out on a memorable double-double with nine rebounds while Henry Domercant registered 23 along with 7 boards.

Stats Don't Lie: Bosnia and Herzegovina made 13 three-pointers which was where the game was won andit could have been even more comfortable had they not missed 10 foul shots.

Bosnia and Herzegovina set up a thrilling last day of action in Group C after downing Croatia with some great perimeter shooting.

A sparkling fourth quarter also set up the 92-80 success with the experienced duo of Henry Domercant and Mirza Teletovic combining for 49 points.

It didn't take long for either team to find their range in an entertaining opening with defence in scarce supply as both teams traded to ensure a finely balanced outcome at the end of the first quarter.

A flawless 15-point line from Mirza Teletovic helped Bosnia and Herzegovina keep pace at 28-28 although in stark contrast to the fluidity of the initial 10 minutes, both teams struggled to maintain their rhythm during the second period.

However just before the break and with the scores still tied-up, Bosnia and Herzegovina made a move.

Helped by a rare three-pointer by Edin Bavcic, they went in front 43-36 heading to the locker rooms after scoring the last nine points of the half as Croatia continued misfiring.

The one thing Sabit Hadzic didn't want was another poor start to a third quarter by his team but inside sixty seconds he was calling time-out as Croatia emerged to score seven unanswered points to level matters.

Bosnia and Herzegovina recovered and regained the initiative heading into the fourth quarter at 64-59 and things got even better when they increased their advantage to 15 points with a blistering start.

Croatia didn't recover and as far as Bosnia and Herzegovina are concerned, it was perhaps a little bit like waiting for buses.

Having not found a single victory at EuroBasket Final Round since 1993, two have come along in Alytus.
