Ukraine fought like lions in the Relegation Round last year to stay in EuroBasket Division A. They'll have to adopt a similar approach this year in their qualifying games for EuroBasket 2011 to have a chance of reaching the Final Round in Lithuania. On Saturday, they were drawn against Great Britain, F.Y.R. of Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary - the other side to survive the Relegation Round. Hennady Zashchuk, the director of national teams for the Ukraine Basketball Federation, said: "England (Great Britain) is definitely going to be the most interesting team. "We know what Hungary is capable of, Bosnia and Macedonia represent Yugoslavian school of basketball. "There are no weak teams but if we prepare for this correctly and get all the players we need, we should be able to advance." There is also the very important matter of having a coach. Valentyn Melnychuk and Ukraine parted ways after the Relegation Round and there is still no one at the helm. "Hopefully, we will get a head coach by February 15," Zashchuk said. |
