Deng Cleared For Great Britain Duty

22 July 2010

Great Britain have been boosted ahead of their EuroBasket qualifying campaign as Luol Deng joined up with the squad earlier than expected.

The Chicago Bulls star, who is returning to international duty after missing last year's EuroBasket through injury, had been considered a doubt for the qualifying campaign due to a problem insuring his NBA contract.

But the issue has now been sorted and Deng arrived at the team's camp in Surrey on Thursday.

It is expected he will need around a week to get himself into playing shape after a recent trip to Africa on family business, but the 25-year-old is now primed to play a full role in GB's summer campaign. GB are in Group B of the EuroBasket qualifiers, and will face Hungary, Macedonia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Ukraine.
