Deyan Ivanov was one of the success stories from EuroBasket 2009 when he posted over 14 points and 6 rebounds per game for Bulgaria and it is likely his influence will be just as strong this time around. Still only 25-years-old, Ivanov has played for the last few seasons in the Italian top flight where he has showcased his strength in the paint and rebounding skills. The forward was absolutely dominant at youth level for Bulgaria posting monstrous numbers, and since making the transition to the senior team, he is one of the core players which make the team tick. Indeed this will be his third EuroBasket tournament since he also found court time during 2005 when, aged 19, he gave an early glimpse of what he is capable of at the elite level. A player who operates down low with some nice post moves, Ivanov will be one of the main threats for Bulgaria inside but opposing defences need to take note he can also step out and drain a three-ball when required. |
