As if everyone wasn't already aware of the tremendous power of Nikola Pekovic from his time at Partizan Belgrade and Panathinaikos playing in Euroleague and picking up All Star berths in Greece to add to his MVP status in the Adriatic League, he has also continued to cement his status at National Team level as the marquee player of Montenegro. During the Qualifying Round he was pretty much unstoppable averaging 20 points per game but also finishing with the second most fouls drawn under the hoop in the competition. Now with a first season in the NBA under his belt, he looks like he will be an even better and smarter player for his country when he steps out at EuroBasket 2011. Pekovic really rose to prominence during 2007-08 when he exploded in Euroleague for Partizan and since that time he has not looked back. He has the capacity to catapult Montenegro to the latter stages such is his power and presence in the paint. He has the ability to establish great position and once he's caught the ball, he's tough to stop since he's lethal around the hoop. A powerhouse in every sense, Pekovic is most definitely the ace in the Montenegro deck and a true warrior leader.
