Young Star Salin Joins Finland Training

Finland coach Henrik Dettman has called the exciting prospect Sasu Salin to train with the senior team as they go through their final preparations for the EuroBasket qualifying campaign.

Salin has just come from the U20 European Championship for Men Division B tournament in Austria where he helped Finland to ninth place.

The 1.91m shooting guard turned in some impressive performances and is being eyed as a key player for the future.

"It was a happy surprise to get the call," Salin said.

"The practice sessions are at a hard tempo and the physicality of the game is totally different to playing with the juniors. So far, the sessions have been really good even as I'm trying to get a feel for it, but in this environment it is easy to learn."

The Espoo Honka star is being urged to soak up as much as he can for the rest of the week.

"He is a young taletened player and the transition from the U20 to the senior team is the natural next step," said Dettman.

"Sasu will certainly benefit from the fact he gets to train at the international level, surrounded by these players. If he is smart, he will listen very carefully every time Hanno Mottola and Teemu Rannikko open their mouths."
