| 04.08.2011 EUROBASKET 2011 | | News of Dmytro Gliebov not making the final squad may come as a surprise to many, as the shooting guard averaged 8.5 points and 3.3 assists in the Qualifying Round last summer |
Ukraine coach Mike Fratello has cut Dmytro Gliebov and Olexiy Onufriyev from his preliminary squad for the EuroBasket while the team waits for news on a knee injury suffered by Maksym Pustozvonov. Fratello announced the changes to his roster after assessing his team's performance at the weekend's AeroSvit Cup, in which Ukraine beat Estonia and Jordan but lost to eventual winners Belarus. Following the tournament, the national team conducted a joint training session with the youth team heading to the World University Games. It was during that session that Pustozvonov sustained a knee injury that will require further tests. Maksym Vilkhovetskyi, Serhiy Lishchuk and Sergii Gladyr all sat out the session with a variety of minor ailments, but none is said to be suffering from a serious problem. |
