Manuchar Markoishvili - EuroBasket 2013 Profile
Team 2012-13: Galatasaray MP (Turkey-TBL)
Career: Basco Batumi (Georgia-D1, 2001-02); Benetton Treviso (Italy-Lega, 2002-04); Mitteldeutscher BC Weissenfels (Germany-BBL, 2004); Union Olimpija Ljubljana (Slovenia-SKL, 2004-07); BC Kyiv (Ukraine-Superleague, 2007-09); NGC Cantu (Italy-Lega, 2009-13); Galatasaray MP (Turkey-TBL, 2013)

With the absence of Zaza Pachulia the leader's torch moves to the hands of Manu. At the age of 27, Markoishvili has established himself as one of the best wings in European basketball. He won titles, or fought till the last minute to get them, almost everywhere he played. After almost four full seasons with Cantu he moved to Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray at the end of last season and was a vital part of the road that Gala travelled to win the Turkish league title after a long drought. Just like the other Manu, the Georgian version just knows how to make things happen and does it in several ways. His numbers with the Georgian team last summer, during the Qualification Round, support that. He scored in double digits in all eight games, averaging 18 points, added four rebounds next to 3.1 assists, whilst also leading the entire competition with 2.9 steals. He shot at 64.2% inside the arc and 40.9% outside it with more than two three pointers-per-game. Not too many players in Europe can deliver that, and if Manu brings that to the table in Slovenia, Georgia will have an easier time to replicate their efforts of EuroBasket 2011.
