CLASSIFICATION FOR 5TH TO 8TH PLACE | FRIDAY at 15:00 (14:00 CET)
Greece and Serbia will battle for a place in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament on Friday at the EuroBasket in Kaunas.
The Serbians made it all the way to the Final two years ago in Poland and also finished fourth at last year's World Championship in Turkey but they fell to an awesome Russia on Thursday night.
The Greeks led for most of their EuroBasket Quarter-Final against France but also fell in the end, despite getting 17 points and 11 rebounds from Ioannis Bourousis.
Complicating matters for Serbia is the unavailability of Aleksandar Rasic and Milenko Tepic because of injuries.
Tepic hurt his back late in Serbia's training session on Thursday.
Neither were available against the Russians and it proved costly because Milos Teodosic had nine turnovers to go with his game-high 20 points.
Head-to-Head: Greece beat Serbia 68-67 at EuroBasket 2007.
Last Time Out: Greece fell, 64-56, to France and Russia beat Serbia, 77-67.
Key Match-Up: Serbia captain Nenad Krstic v Greece center Bourousis.
Key Stat: Serbia had 19 turnovers in their defeat to Russia while Greece had only 10 against France.
X-Factor: Nikos Zisis missed all four of his shots from long range against France.
Sounding Off: "We have a crucial game. Our goal from the beginning was to qualify for the pre-Olympic tournament next year," says Greece forward Kostas Kaimakoglou."
