When the preliminary roster was announced during the summer, it would be fair to say that Vasileios Xanthopoulos was one of the last names on everybody's lips. However due to injuries and some really encouraging performances in the warm-up games, the guard propelled himself onto the radar in a big way and has a great chance of making the final cut. Coach Zouros has been impressed with his attitude and composure having never represented his country at senior level despite being a youth international. He is a no-nonsense kind of player who gets the ball to his open team-mates quite efficiently and will step up to the plate at the other end of the floor with his ability to pressure the ball effectively. He knows what it means to play in big games since he has been a regular performer in European club competition for six consecutive seasons.
