A four-time Lega A champion with Montepaschi Siena and having played at the Euroleague Final Four earlier this year, Marco Carraretto should have every confidence that he will play an important role at EuroBasket 2011. After all, he played 21 minutes last summer during the Qualifying Round and Coach Pianigiani knows all about him from their work at club level. Despite this, Carraretto doesn't have the best memories of trying to reach the EuroBasket Final Round and will take nothing for granted after he was agonisingly sent home from Sweden eight years ago on the day the tournament started after missing the final cut. Now aged 33-years-old, this would be his first major tournament for Italy. If he does make it as expected, he not only brings experience but also sharp shooting skills and because of his wingspan and height, solid defence too.
