While Miguel Minhava only managed a handful of minutes at EuroBasket 2007 in Spain, he is likely to be a key figure if Portugal make it to EuroBasket 2011. Last summer he was one of the leaders in the Qualifying Round for assists and the key playmaker for Portugal with a super 4.8 assists per game- despite averaging only 21 minutes. The only thing which soured his performances was his perimeter game which failed him badly. He was stone cold and that continued last year in EuroChallenge where he also failed to sink a single triple although he has never been an outside shooter. Nevertheless, Minhava is an important part of the rotation and is more than capable of being one of the top performers for Portugal again this year.. He has just completed a great season with Benfica, and is more mature than during 2007. He could be a major player in the team, if Coach Palma is able to understand and accept his mentality.
