Team 2010-11: Khimki Moscow (Russia-PBL) Career: Tolyatti (Russia-Higher League, 2003-04), BC Khimki Moscow Region (Russia-PBL, 2004-11)
Still only 25-years-old and yet already approaching veteran status at the elite level, Vitaly Fridzon is preparing to play at his fourth consecutive EuroBasket tournament. He brings Russia some options on offence since he is a versatile player who will unload from downtown, or use his speed and agility to put the ball on the floor whenever he sees a gap which offers an opportunity to penetrate. Crucially, he is also an excellent team player and often keeps things very simple, whether it is just making smart decisions or merely playing his part by helping to move the ball. Defensively meanwhile he is an asset although he can be a bit too aggressive. Fridzon has played at the Olympics and World Championships and is a regular contributor in Euroleague at club level. A bit of a late bloomer he won gold at U20 level with Russia and was top scorer though he was not always involved at the younger age groups. |
