Team 2010-11: Caja Laboral (Spain-ACB) Career: Arkadia (Austria-A1, 2007-08), Red Star Belgrade (Serbia-BLS, 2008-10), Caja Laboral (Spain-ACB, 2010-11)
If Nemanja Bjelica successfully steps out at EuroBasket 2011 it will mean he has successfully won a race against time to be fully fit after his first season in the Spanish League was prematurely cut short due to a scaphoid fracture in his left hand which required surgery. While his numbers with Caja Laboral were nothing to get too excited about, it would be fair to suggest that Bjelica is still the most rounded player on the Serbian National Team roster. This will be his third successive major tournament after making his debut in Poland two years ago and absolutely lighting it up last summer at the FIBA World Championship with some blistering percentages which had the elite clubs in Europe scrambling for his signature. He is tall but has excellent versatility and can play multiple positions. He moves with the ball gracefully, shoots the ball well and is a rebounding demon as his team high 46 rebounds at EuroBasket 2009 demonstrates. |
